Question

What is the difference between EPDM and Silicone pipe flashings?

Answer

EPDM can withstand temperatures between -40 C° to +115 C°.
Silicone can withstand temperatures between -60 C° to +240 C°.

What is the life expectancy of an Aquarius Pipe Flashing?

Answer

Aquarius Rubber provides a 20 year warranty against defects in material and workmanship on all pipe flashings.
However, we have been manufacturing roof flashings for over 40 years and to this day we can find installations of our original products which are still performing as expected.


Question

Do I need to use silicone flashing on a heater flue?

Answer

Many trades people still use the silicone flashing for heater flues.
When the flue type is a twin or triple skin, tests have shown that the Aquarius black EPDM pipe flashing will adequately do the job and should not be affected by the passive flue heat.

Are Aquarius Pipe Flashings UV resistant?

Answer

Yes. Aquarius polymers are formulated to be Ozone and UV resistant.

What is the difference between the Aquaseal and Versatile Pipe Flashings?

Answer

Aquaseal Pipe Flashings are designed for metal roofs, where as the Versatile Pipe Flashings are designed for tiled roofs.

Can all Aquarius Pipe Flashings be painted?

Answer

Yes, after installation. We recommend using 100% Acrylic Paint.

What type of sealant should be used?

Answer

We recommend a neutral cure sealant.

I collect drinking water from my tiled roof, which Pipe Flashing should I use?

Answer

The Versatile Aluminium, Enviro-Lead & Flexatile are all suitable for drinking water catchments. We do not recommend our Versatile Natural Lead in this situation.

Do you have a product that can flash a Square Pipe?

Answer

Yes. Aquarius Rubber has developed two sizes designed to suit square pipes from 25mm to 150mm.


Question

Can Aquarius Pipe Flashings be used on a pipe discharging from a wood combustion heater?

Answer

Yes, provided a twin or triple skin flue has been installed. Aquarius Rubber recommends their Silicone polymer Pipe Flashings for high temperature applications. Under no circumstances should any polymer pipe flashing be used on single skin flue discharging from a wood heater.

Cleaning Abrasive

Question

Does the Cleaning Abrasive come in a larger size?

Answer

Yes, the larger Cleaning Abrasive size comes in a 5 meter roll. Code Red413

How long are the strips of Cleaning Abrasive?

Answer

There are two sizes available. Cleaning Abrasive standard comes with two strips at 60cm. Cleaning Abrasive large comes in a five metre roll.

Will Cleaning Abrasive rust?

Answer

No, Cleaning Abrasive is metal-free.


Drain Dye

Question

How much Drain Dye should I use?

Answer

As a general rule, 20 grams of Drain Dye will provide a strong visual in 200 litres of water. 1kg of Drain Dye will provide a strong visual in 10,000 litres of water.


Question

Is Drain Dye safe?

Answer

Yes, Drain Dye is non-toxic. They are biodegradable and safe for the environment. Please refer to the MSDS for further information


Question

What is the Difference between the red and green Drain Dye?

Answer

The red Drain Dye is a highly concentrated food dye whereas the green contains fluorescein and sodium sulphate.Please refer to the MSDS for more information


Question

How can I remove the dye?

Answer

Sunlight will break down the product in a relatively short period. The exact time for this will vary depending on the strength of the UV light. Even under weak UV, the dyes will break down in a matter of days.
The colour of all dyes will disappear if the solution is mixed with chlorine. Add approximately 4 grams of 12% bleach for every gram of product in the solution. Adding water will also dilute dye concentration and reduce coloration, or even eliminate colour all together depending on volume of water added.


Question

Can Drain Dye be used on porous surfaces?

Answer

We do not recommend using Drain Dye on porous surfaces.


Silicone Clean Up

Question

Does Silicone Clean Up remove cured silicone?

Answer

Yes. Apply Silicone Clean Up to a rag and place it directly to the cured silicone. Wait approximately 1-2 minutes and remove with scraper.


Question

What surface can it be used on?

Answer

Silicone Clean Up should not be used on painted surfaces.


Tube Paste

Question

Is Tube Paste approved for potable water, natural gas & LPG?

Answer

Yes.


Boot Grip

Question

How long should I wait after applying the Boot Grip to the sole of my boot?

Answer

We recommend waiting at least 1 minute before walking on the roof.


Question

Will Boot Grip damage the metal roof?

Answer

If used correctly by following the instructions, Boot Grip will not damage the metal roof. We advise the user not to walk through gravel after applying the Boot Grip.


Question

Can Boot Grip be applied directly to the roof surface?

Answer

No.


Wonder Juice

Question

Can Wonder Juice be used on plastic threads?

Answer

No, Wonder Juice will not work on any plastic threads.


Question

How long before I can apply pressure to the line?

Answer

We recommend waiting 15 minutes before applying pressure.


Question

How long does Wonder Juice take to fully cure?

Answer

Full cure takes 24hrs, however pressure can be applied after 15 minutes.


Question

How long will Wonder Juice last when the tube is opened?

Answer

Use Wonder Juice within 18 months of opening.


Question

Why is the tube only half full?

Answer

Wonder Juice requires air to stay uncured. Once air is eliminated, Wonder Juice starts to cure.


Question

Can the thread be undone once Wonder Juice has fully cured?

Answer

Yes. This will require some force and we recommend using a wrench tool.


Teflon Tape

Question

Can the Red Back Teflon be used on gas threads?

Answer

No, this tape cannot be used on gas threads. This tape is suitable for potable water.


Stringtite

Question

What is the temperature rating for Stringtite?

Answer

Stringtite endures temperatures between -200˚C to 240˚C. It won’t melt, burn, dissolve, leach or become brittle.

What material is Stringtite made from?

Answer

100% P.T.F.E Monofilament.

What is the difference between Red Back Srtingtite & Hextyte?

Answer

Both products are suitable for natural gas and potable water. The difference between the two is that Hextyte is made of nylon.

Tradies Sunblock

Question

Does Red Back Tradies Sunblock damage/discolour coloured metal roof sheets?

Answer

No, Tradies Sunblock does not contain semi-conducting metal oxides such as titanium dioxide (TiO2) and zinc oxide (ZnO) that can accelerate the degradation of organic materials including paint systems.
