Red Back Copper Pipe Cleaning Abrasive Strips 1.2m

Red Back copper pipe cleaning abrasive strips are used to clean copper pipe before soldering. 

Reusable and waterproof, they are made from high grade silicon carbide, which features sharper abrasive particles than conventional aluminium oxide strips. What this means for the plumber is that it cuts effectively under light pressure, requires less rubbing and is well suited to softer, non-ferrous metals such as copper. 

Copper develops a surface layer of oxidation, often seen as tarnishing or discolouration. The abrasive rubs this layer away to expose clean copper. This matters because oxidation and surface contamination can prevent solder from flowing properly into the joint, potentially weakening it and causing leaks. 

Reusable and easily cleaned by rinsing in water.
