Aquaseal BAL Rated Roof Vent Kits provide a compliant solution for 50mm PVC drainage vent pipes in bushfire-prone areas. Designed for metal roofing applications, the kits replace exposed PVC above the roofline with a corrosion-resistant steel pipe and ember-resistant cowl, helping meet BAL construction requirements. Available with BAL 12.5 (EPDM) and BAL 29 (silicone) rated roof flashings, each kit includes a bal rated cowl, vent pipe and insulated adaptor for a complete installation solution.
In bushfire attack (BAL) areas, the Australian standard limits the use of PVC exposed above the roofline. The minimal test to BAL 12.5 has shown that temperatures can reach 160°C. This far exceeds the melting point of PVC which is 85°C.
With the risk of PVC melting, it has the potential of exposing a gap greater than 3mm, making it non-compliant to the Australian standard AS 3959:2018.
